Meet The Technical Team

Our Experienced Team

Mark Waller
Chief Executive

Mark joined the company in 2008, having previously been the General Manager for the Dunedin branch of software developer Intergen, a development project manager for GlaxoSmithKline across their European messaging environment, and Information Technology manager for Polson Higgs in Dunedin. Mark has a Bachelor of Commerce degree, and over 20 years’ experience in the Information Technology consulting industry. Mark is currently the Chief Executive Officer of SCL and manager of the Network Services team.

Ron joined SCL in 1986 and now has over 30 years’ experience in the electronics and computer industries, with considerable experience in the support and management of computer systems of all sizes. As one of our Senior Systems Consultants, Ron has significant experience in a huge range of technologies, particularly in Microsoft Windows Server, Microsoft Exchange, Microsoft SQL installation and a wide range of networking, security and business continuity technologies. Ron’s skills in this area are indicated by the large number of network sites he is currently responsible for managing. Ron’s qualifications include NZCE (Electronics and Computer Principles) and Compaq Certificate 1 & 2. Ron is currently a director of SCL Limited.

Graham McMillan
Senior Systems Consultant

Graham has been with SCL since 1999, having previously had a long history in the computer industry with a number of senior roles in large organizations, including a period in the United Kingdom. As one of our Senior Systems Consultants, Graham is responsible for project management of our large systems implementations. Graham has extensive experience in the implementation of Microsoft Windows Server technologies, is a fully experienced network engineer and has considerable experience with virtualisation technologies (particularly VMware) and software licensing. Graham has a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours degree.

Adrian joined the company in 1989 after working at Broadcasting for three years in the transmission section.  Adrian has good knowledge and experience of computer systems and Microsoft technologies in both design and implementation, as well as systems administration.  Adrian’s qualifications include NZCE (Electronics and Computer Principles), Microsoft® Certified Professional, Cisco® Certified Network Associate.

Murray Adamson
Systems Consultant

Murray joined the company in August 2006, having been the network administrator at the Order of St John and previously an Oracle developer at HealthCare Otago.  Murray has particular skills in Microsoft Server technologies, and considerable experience in the support of systems across a wide range of technologies and applications.  Murray’s qualifications include a B.Com in Information Science and a B.Sc in Computer Science.

Simon joined SCL in 2001 and worked with the firm on a part- time basis while completing studies at Otago Polytechnic.  In 2003 Simon joined the company on a full-time basis providing in-depth PC and server support and repairs in the areas of both hardware and software in the workshop and out in the field.

Neil Rout
Director - Onsite Services

Neil joined the company in 1987 and also comes from a university background having been a technician with the Medical School Pharmacology Department for 11 years. Neil has an NZCS (Biology) in addition to his NZCE (Electronics and Computer Principles). The combination of a science background with excellent computer skills is particularly useful when it comes to servicing scientific and medical equipment. Neil also has extensive experience in delivering on-site support services to large organisations. Neil is currently a director of SCL Limited.

Nathan joined the company in 2001, after completing the bulk of his studies towards NZCE (NZ Certification in Engineering) at Otago Polytechnic. Since being with SCL Nathan has developed his skills in the repair of printers, laptop, PCs and other electronic equipment both in the workshop and in the field. Nathan has specific expertise in the area of Retail Photo Systems reproduction devices and applies this experience to all other projects he works on through the workshop. Additionally, Nathan is also an -experienced HP service representative and offers first-level helpdesk support services for a wide range of Windows-based technologies and applications.

Alex Billyard
Technician

Alex has been with SCL since 2007. Previously Alex had completed a pre-apprentice electrical/computing course through Otago Polytechnic. Alex has since also completed CITSS (Certificate in IT Service and Support). Since joining SCL, Alex has continued to develop his skills with laptops, PCs, networking and other electronic equipment. Alex has an interest in all things technological and brings his wide knowledge in this area to all workshop and on-site tasks he undertakes.

Andrew Meek
Director - Industrial Services

Andrew worked for 16 years as a University of Otago technician in the electronics laboratory of the Wellcome Medical Research Institute and was responsible for the design of a number of innovative projects.  In 1986, in partnership with Ron Jack, he formed SCL Limited (formerly known as SCL Electronic Services Ltd).  Andrew’s formal qualifications include NZCE (Telecom) and REA (Electronic Engineering).  Andrew’s expertise in the electronics arena is widely known throughout the local marketplace where Andrew is recognised as an innovative solutions provider.  Andrew is a director of SCL Limited.
